Challenge
Today, as little as 30,000 hectares of Scottish rainforest remain.
The rainforest is home to 60 different species of trees and shrubs and a variety of unique and flourishing micro-habitats. However, it covers only 21% of the land suitable for rainforest in Scotland. The threats to woodlands like these is all too well known to the Indigenous leaders and activists of the Amazon, who visited the land during their time in Glasgow for COP26. The Ghost Rainforest was created to tell the emotional story of this journey to the rainforest.
Solution
Told from the perspective of Indigenous activist Narubia Werreria, ‘The Ghost Rainforest’ follows a group of five Indigenous leaders and activists, making an emotionally charged journey to the last remnant of a lost ecosystem; a desperately rare temperate rainforest habitat on the West Coast of Scotland.
